Join us as we celebrate Canada's 150th Birthday in Simcoe Park for the Canada 150 Confederation Celebration. Take part in a family-friendly art activity!
While strolling through the park keep your eyes open for The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre's Plein-Air artists taking in the scenery.
The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, in partnership with the NOTL Sesquicentennial Committee is creating a Community Collaborative Mosaic and we need your creative touch! This project is special because it is an opportunity for all ages to leave their creative mark on a Canada 150 art project that celebrates Niagara-on-the-Lake. The project, when completed will be made up of hundreds of nearly 300 individually painted canvas boards that highlight Niagara-on-the-Lake historic sites, scenic waterfront, greenery and gardens. There will be examples suitable for young children to complete, options for those with no art experience interested in participating and more detailed and advanced representations of buildings and sites for participants with more confidence using a paint brush.
The Community Collaborative Mosaic will continue at Art by the Lighthouse on August 5th & 6th, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre. As the individual canvas boards are completed, you can watch the mosaic develop.
We will also be offering a Clay Sculpture Workshop for participants of all ages to create their own sculpture of their favourite Canadian animal. Demonstrations of various sculpting techniques as well as sample sculptures will assist participants in creating their own Canada 150 sculpture.
