Join us for a bus trip to Toronto on July 6th for a guided tour of The Idea of the North: The Paintings of Lawren Harris exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Lawren Harris is one of Canada’s most celebrated artists, and his works are currently at the height of popularity with the much-lauded retrospective, co-curated by actor, comedian and art-collector Steve Martin, The Idea of the North: The Paintings of Lawren Harris offers a new perspective on the beloved Canadian artist. The exhibition features Harris's most iconic works, the famed northern landscapes of the 1920s-'30s, along with his paintings of Toronto's culturally diverse inner city in the 1910s. If there is any doubt about Harris's legacy, the exhibition also highlights contemporary pieces inspired by Harris himself. See the North and experience this Canadian artist through the unique vision of Steve Martin. The exhibition opened in Los Angeles in 2015 with rave reviews, it is now in Boston before coming to AGO, July 1 – September 18, 2016.
