David Antscherl is a multi-disciplinary artist and craftsman living in Niagara on the Lake.
David’s career has included work as a graphic designer for business corporations and arts organizations. He has an extensive background in theatrical design for sets, costumes and make-up seen in theatres across Canada. As a fine artist all his life, his expertise includes everything from detailed drawings to watercolours, oils, acrylics, and miniature sculpture. With a background in health sciences, David brings a unique perspective for students who wish to learn the relationship between knowledge of human anatomy and life drawing.
David is also an international award-winning model maker. He specializes in 18th century ship models built from scratch at ¼” scale. His commissioned models are in private collections world-wide. As a recognized expert, he has researched and authored eight books on various ship models for enthusiasts, as well as numerous articles for Ships in Scale, The Nautical Research Journal (U.S.) and Mariners Mirror (U.K.)
David has always enjoyed instructing in various art disciplines at all levels, whether for university, college or the community, for the sheer enjoyment of engaging with art lovers.
He has no time for retirement!
