Overview

In this class Darren will guide you step-by-step through simple techniques for mixing colour, capturing light, and bringing your own subject to life on canvas. Each session will focus on enjoying the process - not perfection - while discovering the joy and calm that painting can bring.
No experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. Come share a friendly atmosphere, a few laughs, and the satisfaction of creating something beautiful with your own hands.
By the end of this course, you will gain confidence in using acrylic paints - including basic colour mixing, brush handling, and simple layering techniques. Complete at least one finished painting, learning to plan, develop, and refine a composition from start to finish. Experience the joy and relaxation of painting in a supportive, social setting that encourages creativity, self-expression, and connection.
Please note that these no charge introductory level classes are intended as an opportunity for participants to experience only once.
Should you no longer be available to participate, please notify us as soon as possible so that a spot can be offered to someone on the waitlist.
We thank the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program funding for making our THRIVE programs no charge for participants aged 50 and older.
