Overview
Create your own one-of-a-kind wearable artwork in this immersive two-session workshop exploring the art of Nuno felting. Participants will begin by hand-dyeing luxurious silk chiffon before transforming it into a lightweight, reversible scarf by combining the silk with soft merino wool. Through guided instruction, you'll learn the fascinating felting process—using water, soap, rubbing, rolling, and shrinking to permanently fuse the wool and silk together. Along the way, you'll add colour, texture, and decorative felt embellishments to create a beautifully layered design. By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a delicate, flowing scarf that is as unique as the artist who made it.

Materials: all materials are included in the registration fee at a value of $35.

Materials List
We recommend all students bring 2 large old towels, an apron to protect your clothes and a sketchbook/ notebook and pencil or pen to make notes. Everything else will be provided!

CHRIS LISZAK
Chris has been feltmaking since 2010.
Her art work and wearable art has been seen at Niagara galleries and across Canada.
Chris teaches feltmaking in Niagara and locations across Canada.
She is currently the Chair of the International Feltmakers Association.
CAROLYN MACKENZIE
Carolyn has spent her life creating in multiple art forms.
For the last ten years, she has been honing skills, working with fibre in the practices of felting, spinning, and weaving.
Her creations are available at the Shawp at the Shaw Festival. She is proud to have been part of the NOTL Studio Tour 2025.
