Dr. Ron Clavier was born in Montreal. His undergraduate work in Psychology was done at McGill University. His Doctoral studies and research in neuroscience were conducted at Northwestern University Medical School, in Chicago, Illinois, as well as at The University of British Columbia, and at the University of Toronto. His research focused on the neural underpinnings of mental illness. He has practiced Clinical Psychology in Toronto for the past 35 years, helping families deal with the adolescent and young adult years, and the medical and social consequences of substance abuse. Ron is an internationally renowned educator, and the author of "Teen Brain, Teen Mind, What Parents Need To Know To Survive the Adolescent Years".
At the age of six Ron began his artistic training when he attended classes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. His figurative work reflects his belief in the unity of human anatomy and human psyche. His landscapes and waterscapes accentuate the colours and forces of nature. Ron's paintings have been shown at exhibitions in Canada and the U.S.A. since 1994.
Ron lives with his wife in Niagara on the Lake. He serves as Founding President of the Art Gallery of Niagara on the Lake, Vice Chair of the TD Niagara Jazz Festival, and advisor to the Lord Mayor's Youth Advisory Council. He is currently a member of the NOTL Arts Collective.
