CENTENNIAL SPORTS PARK, 1565 Four Mile Creek Rd., Virgil
The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, in partnership with the NOTL Sesquicentennial Committee is launching a Community Collaborative Mosaic project at Centennial Sports Park, Virgil, on June 30th, 4:30-10 p.m. This project is special because it is an opportunity for all ages to leave their creative mark on a Canada 150 art project that celebrates Niagara-on-the-Lake. The project, when completed will be made up of hundreds of nearly 300 individually painted canvas boards that highlight Niagara-on-the-Lake historic sites, scenic waterfront, greenery and gardens. There will be examples suitable for young children to complete, options for those with no art experience interested in participating and more detailed and advanced representations of buildings and sites for participants with more confidence using a paint brush.
The Pumphouse will also be offering a Wearable Art Project, where participants of all ages can create a fancy fascinator or hat that complements their attire for the costume contest. All sorts of materials will be provided for you to create a creative addition to your Canada Day weekend attire.
The Community Collaborative Mosaic will continue at Confederation Celebration in Simcoe Park on July 3rd, 1-4 p.m. and Art by the Lighthouse on August 5th & 6th, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre. As the individual canvas boards are completed, you can watch the mosaic develop.
