The Niagara Pumphouse is pleased to exhibit Communication in the Quantum Leap, featuring new paintings by Beverley Barber. Please join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, July 2nd, 2020, 7:00 p.m.
This body of work is an extension of all of my previous paintings. The main focus in this work is directly toward further abstraction of the figure, with an increase in movement into and out of the picture plane. This movement is looked at as if it were music, with varying rhythm, tempo and resting space.
I am always in a state of “not knowing” where it is going until it is revealed to me. I love the element of surprise that only happens when working very quickly with no time to critique, think or plan. This process keeps me spontaneous and free to create and tap into a realm beyond myself.
I love to exhibit my work because I can communicate my passion for art/ life in a non-verbal manner. I feel that painting has a high vibrational quality that people can feel and respond to. Just like music a painting can transport a person out of their thinking mind and into IMAGINATION.
