Discover the bold, visionary strokes that shaped Canada's artistic identity and revolutionized how a nation sees itself!
Tuesday Feb 17, 2026 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

While early Canada was strongly tied to its British and French roots, artists of the late 1800's and early 1900's began to be influenced by the stylistic approach of Europe. As such these Canadian artists were able to combine stylistic approaches of colour and form to the Canadian landscape creating a unique expression of the Canadian culture. This lecture will examine the works of the early Canadian artists of the late 1800's and the Group of Seven as examples of this new artistic expression.
