Overview

This lecture explores the opulent and decorative world of Rococo art and architecture, a style that emerged in France in the early 18th century as a reaction against the grandeur of Baroque. We'll delve into the key characteristics of Rococo, including its playful use of light, asymmetry, pastel colors, and elaborate ornamentation, and examine how these elements manifested in painting and sculpture.
