The found object is your starting point. The painting you create onto the object(s) may be your story. One or many objects may be required to express the ongoing series. Students may work in acrylic, oil, collage, drawing and mixed media. Skills will be taught if not familiar.
Students will bring to class several found objects. Their choice of objects may project subtle clues as to its space, size, purpose ànd repurpose possibilities, not to forget the spirit it possesses. Self Acquaintance is expressed in many ways. For example, Tom Thomson painted not merely to paint, but because he had a message, essentially about colour and the North country that possessed his imagination. (Ann Davis) Acquaint yourself to nature again, express yourself in your work, your paintings. Let us become like stones, plants and trees. Let us be animals, think and feel like animals. (David Abrams). Your found object will begin to explore. Images are like words, they convey a message. As you paint you begin to understand your own message. "The individual soul can be and go anywhere. The poet, the creative person is the joiner, the link between one individual and unity" (Davis).
