Over two creative days, students (ages 12-17) will team up to bring their ideas to life through the magic of stop motion animation—building sets, snapping frames, editing scenes, and premiering their own short film by the end! It's a fast-paced, hands-on experience where imagination turns into motion picture storytelling.
Thursday Aug 6, 2026 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Friday Aug 7, 2026 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Day 1: students will get to know each other and will work in groups of 2 -4. Starting with the story board process students will develop a simple narrative, build/ design characters or a scenario that will be the core of their animation. Students will then have the choice of how they want to work with their paper (cut paper shapes, collage, or drawing/ painting) . In the afternoon of day 1 students will build and test their animation idea in preparation for the following day where they will film and present their story.
Day 2: Students will spend the morning filming their story. Working through the photo process of documenting each movement students can edit in real time, playback and add or remove frames from their animation. Students will participate in a screening of their shorts where each group will get to project their work, take questions and celebrate each other's achievements.
