The exhibit offers a glimpse into the charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake through the eyes of an artist who has spent the last decade exploring its streets, landscapes, and the mighty Niagara River.
The public is invited to the opening reception on November 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM to meet the artist and experience her work firsthand. Artist's remarks will be delivered at 2:30 pm. This event is generously supported by Château des Charmes, providing an assortment of fine wines.
Artist's Statement
For me art has been a communication tool. As I travel, I see something that particularly gets my attention. I'll do what I can to capture information with a camera and then in my studio I get to work to create an image that looks to communicate what I saw or felt. I quickly get down the basic image, but it's only when I get into the colour work that I begin to find what I'm really looking for, the way to emphasize what it is that caught my attention.
This has been exactly what I have done in my walks around town and area. Each painting has some kind of emphasis on colour, light, value or other element or principle of design. Some happen in a few days while others take a few weeks, as I keep pushing until I can see what it was that impressed me.
