Artist's Statement
As a Canadian artist deeply rooted in my surroundings, I draw inspiration from both the landscape and the concept of home. My work explores the essence of "place"—that lingering sense of familiarity and connection when encountering a scene that feels both known and new.

This series examines the dynamic relationship between interior and exterior spaces. I am intrigued by the ways we imprint our identities onto the environments we inhabit, whether by shaping a home within the landscape or leaving traces of ourselves in the spaces we design. This idea resonates deeply with me.

In my vision, the subjects of my paintings—chairs, tablescapes, lamps, or tents—possess a quiet yet compelling presence. They tell their own stories, inviting viewers to glimpse their world and experience the subtle interplay between absence and presence, memory and belonging.

The bulk of what I paint has a story buried within it. While I paint, the narrative is developing...I might see tents on a beach waiting for their occupants, a room where wallpaper wants to be the star of the show, or a lamp warming a table for tea. I love where the narrative can take the viewer.
