Overview

Through a series of sessions, we will explore the basics of mixing paints to create palettes that move away from painting straight out of the tube to a more cohesive and unique colour theme. Topics covered will include: creating secondary and tertiary colours, lightening and darkening colours, the properties of different pigments, and choosing colours that work together on the palette.
Please note that there will be work to be completed at home between sessions. This class works towards furthering understanding of colour mixing techniques rather than a finished painting.
By the end of this course, you will understand the properties of different pigments: i.e. warm vs cool, opaque vs transparent. 2. To be able to mix their own colours. 3. To create unique palettes that reflect their style and subject matter.
