Overview

Fantasy:
The early 20th century saw the emergence of a study of the mind and unconscious in the works of Freud and Jung. This lecture will explore the element of the fantastic and unconscious in the works of Chagall, Rousseau, and other artists of the early 20th century.
Surrealism:
This lecture will further explore the interest in dream and the unconscious as expressed by the Surrealists who created works for reality and dream to form a Surreal world in painting and sculpture.
