Sandra was born in the Niagara Peninsula, Canada, and has lived and trained in the United States; England; Melbourne, Australia and Toronto, Canada. She initially studied writing and journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and at City University London, England, and over the past 20 years has diverted her creative talent to focus on visual arts. She has spent several years learning classical drawing and painting with renowned artists including the late Kevin Taylor at Brighton Arts Society in Melbourne, Australia and Juan Martinez at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto. She is also certified as a GOLDEN Artist Educator, having completed training in acrylic paints and mediums, their uses, techniques and methods of application. Her favorite part of being an artist is volunteering in the arts; as a docent for the Art Gallery of Ontario and by launching many community and school art curriculums and projects. She also runs an annual painting holiday and workshop in Europe each summer. Sandra's work and teaching ranges from classical landscape and floral painting to contemporary mixed-media and conceptual work. "My goal is to offer fundamental theory, techniques and applications in a fun and encouraging atmosphere, while allowing the student to develop their own unique style as an emerging artist."
Sandra currently lives and works as an artist and instructor sharing her time between living in Northern Virginia, and in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario with her family and dog Ringo.
